Sibling Weekend 2023

Your students are encouraged to invite their siblings to campus on April 21-23 for Sibling Weekend 2023. Activities are planned for all age groups.

This annual tradition features events across campus, and the Sibling Weekend website highlights the many activities taking place.

A weekend highlight includes shows by Illinois State’s Gamma Phi Circus, now celebrating its 94th anniversary. The shows, which take place in CEFCU Arena, will be held on Friday, April 21, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, April 22, at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased through the Redbird Athletics Ticket Office, online, or at the door during the show weekend.

On Saturday, the Student Alumni Council invites students and siblings to attend the Sibling’s Carnival on the CEFCU Arena concourse beginning at noon. This popular Sibling Weekend tradition is kid-approved and open to everyone with a youth ticket to the matinee show. The carnival includes various games, face painters, prizes, and fun for kids of all ages.

Hitting the Home Stretch with Academics

The last month of the semester is usually when students reflect on their course progress. If students need assistance, many free academic services are available, including academic peer coaching, tutoring for nearly 50 different courses, academic skills workshops, writing assistance, and more. Students can visit University College to sign up for tutoring, workshops, and academic coaching and learn about the many resources available to aid in success.

Helping Students with Stress

The second half of the semester can be a demanding and stressful time for students as projects and papers that seem far off at the start of the semester now become looming deadlines.

Here are some tips to help your student during this stressful time:

Campus Events and Activities

April is a great month for students to engage in campus events and activities. These events can provide much-needed stress relief and fun, introduce students to involvement opportunities for the next year, or help them think about their next steps in their majors or educational careers.

The Redbird Life listing of events includes those sponsored by student groups and campus departments that have a student audience in mind. As parents and family members, you can see the listing of events, even without campus login credentials.

Residence Halls Closing Date and Move-Out Information

All residence halls will close for the summer on Saturday, May 13, at 2 p.m. Exceptions may be made for residents participating in commencement ceremonies. For additional information, including a move-out to-do list, visit University Housing Services.

Off-Campus Meal Plans

If your student is living off-campus next year, they can consider an off-campus meal plan.

To learn more about meal plans and how to purchase them, please visit the Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality website or contact them by phone at (309) 438-8351 or email EMDH@IllinoisState.edu.

Student Account Due Dates

If your student is enrolled in the payment plan, payments for spring 2023 are due to the Student Accounts Office on the following dates:

  • Fourth installment: Friday, April 14
