Voter Information for Illinois State Students
The 2024 Illinois primary election is on Tuesday, March 19, and the Center for Civic Engagement encourages all students to take the opportunity to help determine the candidates for November’s general election. The Redbird Voter Guide is a great resource for students, and it provides all the information students need to register to vote, learn about the candidates/issues, and cast their ballot.
- College students can register to vote at their home/permanent address or campus address.
- Online registration in Illinois is available until 11:59 p.m. on March 3. ISU offers TurboVote to facilitate voter registration.
- Illinois is a same-day registration state, so students who forget to register to vote before the March 3 deadline can still register and vote at their polling place. Students must bring the necessary documentation.
- Early voting is available for anyone in McLean County (except Bloomington voters) at Bone Student Center and Watterson Towers, March 4-15. We STRONGLY encourage students to early vote because it is easy, convenient, and often not crowded.
- On Election Day (March 19), students can vote at the Bone Student Center from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. All those in line by 7 p.m. are entitled to vote. Students who vote at the Bone Student Center can take photos at a Celebration Station to share their participation and celebrate their voting experience.
- If students have any questions or need assistance, they can contact the Center for Civic Engagement at (309) 438-1100 or CivicEngagement@IllinoisState.edu.
