Event Calendar

If you are looking for important dates such as academic breaks, deadlines, course registration, and university events, check out the University Event Calendar, which features the academic calendar as well as events happening around campus. If searching for important dates beyond the current academic year, the Academic Calendar has tabs to look at for the coming years. Student activities and events scheduled for the current semester are promoted at RedbirdLife.IllinoisState.edu

Spring break 2022 is Saturday, March 5 through Sunday, March 13.

Fall registration

Advanced registration for fall 2022 classes will be held Monday, March 21 to Friday, May 6. Registration will then reopen Monday, May 16, and will continue until Friday, September 2. Students can register online through My.IllinoisState.edu. More information is available from the Office of the University Registrar and University College. If your student isn’t sure when they are scheduled to register, they can verify their date and time in the Academics/Course Registration section of My.IllinoisState.edu. Students should also schedule an appointment with their academic advisor to get advice on which courses help them stay on track to graduation.

Student accounts due dates

If enrolled in the payment plan, payments for spring 2022 are due to the Student Accounts Office on or before the following dates:

  • Third installment: Friday, March 11
  • Fourth installment: Friday, April 8
  • Fifth installment: Friday, May 13

These dates are very important—past due balances will place a hold on your student’s account, which can affect their course registration for future semesters.

On-campus housing for fall 2022

It’s time for your student to start thinking about their on-campus residence for the 2022–2023 academic year. There are some important differences for incoming and returning students.

  • Incoming students: If you student is within their first two years out of high school, they are required to live on campus in the fall. Visit the Housing and Dining Portal to sign a Housing contract and select a meal plan. If this is done by May 1, students will be eligible to select their own room and roommate. If it is done after May 1, they will be randomly assigned a room by staff.
  • Returning students: Contract renewal for returning students required to live on campus ends on March 18. Remind your student to sign their contract and select a room by the deadline or they will be randomly assigned by Housing staff.
  • Exemptions: Students who are required to live on campus but have a need to live off campus need to request an exemption from the live-on requirement in the Housing and Dining Portal. Students should wait to hear back on the status of their request before making other plans to live off campus.
  • Non-required students: If a student is not required to live on campus but is interested in living on campus, they should submit a request to live on campus in the Housing and Dining Portal as soon as possible. Requests will be granted based on space availability.

Resources for off-campus students

Off-Campus Services is just one of the support services that the Dean of Students Office provides for students.

The Off-Campus Housing Database is a resource to assist students in searching for off-campus housing. This site serves as a comprehensive resource for Illinois State students to search for vacant listings managed by private landlords and management companies, search for roommates, or find a subleaser. The database is a quick and easy place for students to search for apartments or houses with specific criteria such as price, number of bedrooms, and whether pets are permitted.

As your student selects a place to live in Bloomington/Normal, you may be asked to sign as a guarantor on their lease.

A lease may be the first legal document your student is asked to sign. Before signing, consider scheduling a meeting with the Students’ Attorney in the Dean of Students Office for free legal advice and lease review.

You can find more information about leases and other resources on the Students’ Attorney page of the Dean of Students Office website.

Student Health Services

One of our goals at the University is to keep our students safe and healthy throughout their college career. Student Health Services offers a student-oriented clinic providing examinations, treatment, urgent care, and minor surgical procedures.

All students may use Student Health Services, which includes the clinic, laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy. The student insurance plan is not needed to access care at Student Health Services. If your student is feeling sick or needs treatment, have your student schedule an appointment. Appointments are $11 (except psychiatry which is $75 for the initial appointment and $50 for follow-up appointments). Clinic hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday–Friday, by appointment. Students can schedule an appointment on the Appointment website or by calling (309) 438-APPT (2778).

Students are expected to keep their scheduled appointments or cancel at least one hour prior to the appointment. Students who do not keep an appointment or cancel less than one hour (24-hour cancellation for psychiatry) prior to their appointment will be charged a missed-appointment or late cancellation fee.

Illinois State University is also offering free COVID-19 testing to Illinois State students. Please visit the University’s COVID-19 page for more information on testing locations and hours.

Emergency Contacts

It is vital that every student has an emergency contact listed in their profile. Encourage your student to add emergency contacts by logging onto My.IllinoisState.edu, going to the My Profile section, and scrolling down to the Emergency Contacts button under “Manage Your Profile Information”. Multiple contacts can be listed, though only one can be selected as preferred.
