Fall Break

Fall break begins Saturday, November 19, and continues through Sunday, November 27. The University will be closed Thursday, November 24, through Friday, November 25, and will resume normal hours on Monday, November 28.

On-campus students
Watterson Towers, Haynie Hall, and Wright Hall will close at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 19. All students in these halls must vacate rooms by this time. Room inspections will be conducted once vacated. Students may leave their personal belongings in the room; however, they must take whatever they need for the week while on break, as no student will be allowed back into these halls for any reason. These residence halls will reopen at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 27.  Hewett, Manchester, and Wilkins halls remain open during fall break, along with University Housing apartments. For more information, please visit the University Housing website.

Dining hours
Marketplace at Linkins will close on Friday, November 18, at 2 p.m. and will reopen on Sunday, November 27, at 4 p.m. Watterson Dining Commons will close on Friday, November 18, at 8 p.m. and will reopen on Sunday, November 27, at 4 p.m. For more information, please visit the Campus Dining website.

Off-campus students
Student apartments can become a target for burglary during holiday breaks. To keep your students’ possessions and residence safe, share these tips with them:

  • Motivate your student to pack their car the day they go home. Leaving valuables outside in a vehicle overnight can be risky.
  • Lock all doors and windows before leaving the residence.
  • Keep valuables such as computers, gaming systems, or jewelry out of plain view.
  • Take all valuable items with them when leaving for extended breaks.
  • Keep a master list of larger, valuable items with make, model, and serial numbers, or take pictures.
  • Unplug televisions, computers, gaming systems, and other appliances to protect them from power surges.

Student Employment at Illinois State University

Did you know studies show that students who work up to 10 hours a week have higher grade point averages than students who do not work? Good news — Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality offers numerous employment opportunities for a variety of shifts, including early mornings, midday, evenings, and many options in between. The team works with class schedules to find shifts that fit with students’ schedules.

If your student would like to improve their time management, build their resume, and learn new skills, encourage them to apply for a position at Jobs.IllinoisState.edu.
