Fall Break Reminders
Fall break begins Saturday, November 18, and continues through Sunday, November 26. Classes are not held during this time. In addition, university offices will be closed Wednesday, November 22, through Friday, November 24, but will resume regular business hours on Monday, November 27.
On-campus students
Watterson Towers, Haynie Hall, and Wright Hall will close at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 18. All students in these halls must vacate rooms by this time. Students may leave their personal belongings in the room; however, they must take whatever they need for the week while on break, as no student will be allowed back into these halls for any reason. These residence halls will reopen at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 26.
Hewett, Manchester, and Wilkins halls remain open during fall break, along with Cardinal Court, Fell Avenue, and School Street apartments. For more information, visit the University Housing website.
Dining hours
Marketplace at Linkins will close on Friday, November 17, at 2 p.m. and will reopen on Sunday, November 26, at 4 p.m. Watterson Dining Commons will close on Friday, November 17, at 8 p.m. and will reopen on Sunday, November 26, at 4 p.m. For more information, please visit the Campus Dining website.
Resources for Off-Campus Students
Off-Campus Services can help your student enhance their off-campus living experience.
The Off-Campus Housing Database is a resource to assist students in the search for vacant listings managed by private landlords and management companies. Students can also look for potential roommates or find a sublease. The database offers options to search for apartments or houses using specific criteria such as price, number of bedrooms, and whether pets are permitted.
After your student selects their place to live off-campus, encourage them to schedule an appointment with the Students’ Attorney in the Dean of Students Office for a free lease review. A lease may be the first legal document your student is asked to sign, and the Students’ Attorney can help them understand the lease terms.
Final Exam Resources for Your Student
Finals week will be upon us quickly after the fall break. Exams are scheduled to start on Saturday, December 9, and continue through Friday, December 15. It’s important that your student is aware of the options available to help them prepare for final exams. The Julia N. Visor Academic Center will offer Finals Blitz tutoring again this year! Finals Blitz sessions begin at the end of November and continue up until Finals Week and are open to any ISU student. No sign-up is required to attend a session.
Health Promotion and Wellness offers tips and programs to students for maintaining healthy living, especially in times that might be more stressful.
