Fall Course Registration

Advanced course registration for Fall 2024 begins at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, March 25, 2024. Registration dates and times are available in your student’s My.IllinoisState.edu portal as of March 1. Students should pay careful attention to their registration start time as there are multiple start times. Registration dates and times are determined based on the number of credit hours earned (not including in-progress credits). If students have not yet made an appointment with their advisor to discuss their fall courses, they can schedule an appointment through My.IllinoisState.edu.

Fall course information is available through your student’s My.IllinoisState.edu portal and the Course Finder site. Additional registration information can be found through the Office of the University Registrar and University College.

On-Campus Housing for Fall 2024

It’s time for your student to start thinking about their on-campus residence for the 2024–2025 academic year. There are some important differences for incoming and returning students.

  • Incoming students: If your student is within their first two years out of high school, they are required to live on campus in the fall. Visit the Housing and Dining Portal to sign a housing contract and select a Meal Plan. Required first-time college students who submit their housing contract and initial payment by June 1 can participate in roommate matching and be eligible to participate in room selection in the summer months. If it is done after June 1, they will be randomly assigned a room by staff.
  • Transfer students who meet the June 1 priority filing date qualify for a randomized lottery where some students will be allowed the opportunity to roommate match and select a space in the apartments.
  • Returning students: Contract renewal for returning students required to live on campus ends on Friday, March 22. Please remind your student to sign their contract and select a room by the deadline. Students who do not complete their contract during contract renewal will be charged a $50 late application fee and placed in late July after new incoming students participate in room selection.
  • Exemptions: Students who are required to live on campus but have a need to live off campus need to request an exemption. Students should wait to hear back on the status of their request before making plans to live off campus.

Resources for Off-Campus Students

The Off-Campus Housing Database is a resource to assist students in searching for off-campus housing. This site is a comprehensive resource for Illinois State students to search for vacant listings managed by private landlords and management companies, search for roommates, or find a sublease. The database is a quick and easy place for students to search for apartments or houses with specific criteria such as price, number of bedrooms, and whether pets are permitted.

To help your student enhance their off-campus living experience, they are encouraged to check out the resources offered by Off-Campus Services.

As your student selects a place to live in Bloomington/Normal, you may be asked to sign as a guarantor on their lease. A lease may be the first legal document your student is asked to sign. Before signing, your student should consider scheduling an appointment with the Students’ Attorney in the Dean of Students Office for a free lease review.

Sibling Weekend April 19-21, 2024

Mark your calendars for Illinois State University’s Sibling Weekend on April 19-21. This weekend is a great chance for siblings of ISU students (or those they love like a sibling) to come to campus to participate in a variety of activities, including the Gamma Phi Circus.

Adding Emergency Contacts

It is important that every student has an emergency contact listed in their profile. Encourage your student to add emergency contacts by logging onto My.IllinoisState.edu, going to the My Profile section, and scrolling down to the Emergency Contacts button under “Manage Your Profile Information.” Multiple contacts can be listed, though only one can be selected as preferred.
